Bradley Maron graduated from Williams College and received his M.D. degree from the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. He complete internal medicine residency at Boston Medical Center and Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH), and a fellowship in cardiovascular medicine at BWH. In 2019, Dr. Maron was appointed to Associate Professor of Medicine at BWH and Harvard medical School. He also serves as the Co-Director of the Pulmonary Vascular Disease Center at the VA Boston Healthcare System. He directs a laboratory discovering and studying redox-sensitive and functionally essential protein-cysteinyl thiols that underlie the pathogenesis of vascular remodeling in pulmonary circulatory disorders. In particular, his laboratory identified oxidation of neural precursor cell expressed developmentally down-regulated protein 9 (NEDD9) at Cys¹⁸ as a critical molecular mechanism that promotes fibrillar collagen deposition in pulmonary artery endothelial cells. His group has also innovated an approach to develop individualized protein-protein interaction networks, which advances precision medicine for complex cardiovascular diseases such as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. In other research efforts, he has led several international efforts to clarify the hemodynamic spectrum of risk associated with adverse outcome in pulmonary hypertension. These works have contributed to recalibration of the definition used to diagnose and risk-stratify patients clinically. Dr. Maron has held grants and awards from the NIH, the American Heart Association, Pulmonary Hypertension Association, and Cardiovascular Medical Research Education Foundation among many others. He is the recipient of the Distinguished Master Clinician Award at BWH, Eleanor and Miles Shore Scholar in Medicine at Harvard Medical School, and numerous other prestigious honors for teaching and other scholarly activities.
