Dr. Kong is currently an Investigator in the Dermatology Branch in the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases and Adjunct Investigator in the Cancer and Inflammation Program, Center for Cancer Research, NCI. She graduated from Stanford University and received her MD from Baylor College of Medicine. She completed her residency in dermatology at Duke University, clinical research fellowship in the Dermatology Branch, NCI, and her Master’s degree in the NIH-Duke Master’s Program in Clinical Research. Dr. Kong previously was an Assistant Clinical Investigator in the Center for Cancer Research, NCI. Her research has been focused on the integration of genomics into investigations of the role of human microbes in health and disease. Her work has been foundational in skin microbiome studies in healthy individuals, patients with the inflammatory skin disorders, including atopic dermatitis, and patients with primary immunodeficiencies.
