Dr. Crompton received his MD and MPH from The Johns Hopkins Schools of Medicine and Public Health in 2000. He then completed a residency in internal medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital before going on to a fellowship in infectious diseases at NIAID in 2004. In 2006 he joined the Laboratory of Immunogenetics at NIAID to pursue his research interest in the human immune response to malaria. He is currently senior investigator and chief of the Malaria Infection Biology & Immunity Section at NIAID. Dr. Crompton collaborates with scientists and clinicians in malaria endemic areas to investigate the cellular and molecular basis of naturally acquired immunity to malaria with the goal of informing the development of malaria vaccines.
