Ari M. Melnick, MD, is Gebroe Family Professor of Hematology/Oncology in the Departments of Medicine and Pharmacology at the Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City. He is chair of the Hematologic Malignancies Program of the Weill Cornell Cancer Center, Director of the Sackler Center for Biomedical and Physical Sciences at Weill Cornell. His research interests are in the area of transcriptional regulation, epigenomics and development of drugs targeting oncogenic transcription factors. At Weill Cornell he is director of the Sackler Center for Biomedical and Physical Sciences, which has become a nucleus for interaction between researchers in the mathematical, computational and biomedical scientists. He has developed an epigenomics program at Weill Cornell and is faculty director of the Weill Cornell Epigenomics Core Facility. Dr. Melnick has been scientific chair of several major national meetings including the American Society of Hematology Annual Meeting, the FASEB conference on Hematologic Malignancies, and the Clinical Translation of Epigenetic Therapy Conference. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the Lymphoma Research Foundation. Dr. Melnick also has a strong interest in trainee career development. He is a past director of the Mount Sinai Hematology/Oncology fellowship program and has worked for years through the American Society of Hematology and the Lymphoma Research Foundation to develop and expand training and funding opportunities for students, residents and fellows. He is currently director of the Medical Residency Research Track at Weill Cornell.
