Dr. Dudley’s research focuses on the role of oxidative stress in arrhythmias and diastolic heart failure. He is working on a blood test that predicts sudden death risk in heart failure and several new therapies to prevent arrhythmias by a new paradigm of raising ion channel levels. He has defined oxidative modifications of cardiac contractile proteins that appear to cause diastolic heart dysfunction. This has lead to a potential diagnostic test for this condition and several new, potential therapeutic options.
